FABULOUS loves what shines. 3D printing is the ideal technique for producing beautiful and original luminaires. The advantages are numerous: 

– Current materials allow for excellent light diffusion. For instance, with polyamide-type plastic materials, we have developed a specific formulation to achieve a transparent effect in white hues. This is also possible thanks to new glass 3D printing technologies, which will soon enter the market, finally enabling total transparency.

– Complex shapes, fine details. Many designers have long envisioned creating luminaires that would make Starck's designs seem antiquated. Such ideas remained unrealized in design offices because traditional manufacturing techniques could not bring them to life. However, with the layer-by-layer material addition principle (additive manufacturing), common to all 3D printing technologies, it is now possible to invent increasingly creative designs. Moreover, the precision of professional 3D printers now enables detail finesse down to the micron level.
